ok so no lease signed yet but we’ve got the application and are nearly done with it!! we went to go see the place yesterday, it’s way bigger than the photos suggest and it’s lovely and cute. it’s pretty far from downtown but I don’t think I’ll miss that - i just spend all my time working anyway lol??? it’s super close to a bus stop (like a 3 minute walk??? tops???) and I have free transit through my student ID card. the landlords are SO nice and they run a really small leasing company and rent their things for under market value. we had a good talk about how corrupt and terrible the major leasing companies here are. i really love it, there’s lots of space for kitties and books. i’m feeling kinda AAAAAAA about moving as far as we’re about to move, but I think it will be good for me as I’m writing my dissertation. i really like being able to walk places from my current apartment but honestly I don’t go out often enough to warrant really valuing walkability to bars and stuff. i’m really unhappy with my current apartment and with big leasing companies here in general, so I’m ready to be paying only slightly more for a much bigger and comfier space right across from the complex clubhouse which has a free exercise room and pool with landlords who aren’t fucking shitty and without tyrannical anti-pet rules!!!!

Ok so my paternal grandfather (who died in ‘97) always said “foresta” when he was talking about the forest that his backyard ran down into, and I thought he was just Italianizing an English word. But today I learned that the actual word for forest in Italian is FORESTA. I’m DEAD. How did I never know this? I just read it in an article and was like, that CANNOT be a real word, but I realized I only knew the word “bosco” which is I guess more for a wooded area. Aaaaaaa

also generally i’m great, i visited theo’s mother for christmas and was in the uk for 7 days, avoided family drama and had the first restful christmas in years. i got back to toronto on the 28th and have been very relaxed and am meeting up with friends i haven’t seen in a long time and whom i dearly missed. i also got an A in Greek which means i finally satisfied my last language requirement. hapyp 2019
